Kryzta

Kryzta is the latest rapidly developed game by cactus. It may have been created in only 6 hours, but it's no less fun because of it.

The aim is to avoid enemy bullets/missiles while trying to get them to collide with other enemies in order to destroy them. Destroyed enemies leave behind collectables that give points and cause you to get bigger, allowing you to take more damage, or use a special attack with the z key. You can also pick up 'ball and chain' style weapons from some enemies, which allow you to take out enemies a bit more directly.

Everyday Shooter now on Steam

Jonathan Mack's excellent audio-visual shooter, which previously has only been available on the Playstation network, can now be purchased for PC via steam.

For any of you who don't have a PS3, or haven't played the game yet, its well worth the money at just $8.99, and really shows off how much fun arena shooters can be.

Dino Run

The latest game from the prolific studio pixeljam, the creators of the retro shmup Gamma Bros is here at last! Dino run is a side scrolling run 'n up where you play a small dinosaur escaping rapidly approaching doom (from the left). Along the way you will encounter many other creatures some of which can be eaten for points while others will simply obstruct your progress.
With tons of variety, including secret areas where big points can be earned, and beautiful pixel scenery and attention to detail, Dino Run is well worth a play, and will most likely have you hooked.

Ambient Parade

My latest game 'Ambient Parade' has just gone live over at DABontv.com. As far as I know, it's a pretty unique concept. You can move between 5 tracks, and move up and down those tracks freely. The aim of the game is to avoid various hazards while hitting targets with the 'z' key when your over them. Pressing 'x' performs a boost which moves you rapidly upwards, while destroying any targets you come in contact with.

Hitting multiple targets of the same colour in a row increases your combo counter, allowing you to get big scores. Missing a target gives a penalty at the end of the level and affects your level grade.

There are 8 levels in total to try and beat. See if you can get a high score.

Brain-Damaged Toon Underworld

Cactus has just released a demo of his new game in progress "Brain-Damaged Toon Underworld", a platformer adventure with a stylish art style (of course) and from what can be played in the demo, some similar character swapping gameplay to cactus' earlier experiments in Psychosomnium.

What can be seen so far looks really good, the dialog is interesting and pretty funny, and I'm really liking the art style. Check out the demo if you cant wait for the full game!

AtomHex

AtomHex is the new game from the creator of the geometry wars style game 'GridWars'. Like GridWars, AtomHex is an arena shooter, where you have to fight off hordes of enemies to build up your score. The visuals are very trippy, and fans of excess particles wont be disappointed. It's well worth a download.
